A shooting at a shopping center in El Paso left several people dead, the authorities said. At least one suspect was taken into custody.

The El Paso Police Department warned people on Twitter to stay away from the Cielo Vista Mall area.

Employees from nearby businesses said people had rushed in seeking refuge, and that authorities had told them to lock the doors.
