Some changes to help you make sense of the world.
Hi. My name is David Leonhardt. I'm a writer at The New York Times, and I want to tell you about some changes we're making to the Morning Briefing email — changes meant to help you make sense of a confusing, fast-changing world. We're excited about them. |
Starting Monday, I'll be your new guide to The Times, as the newsletter's lead writer. The newsletter will also have a new look, with stories organized more clearly by subject. You'll see more graphics, for example, and some new other features. And the newsletter will have a new name: The Morning. I hope you'll check it out. |
A bit more about me: I've been working at The Times since 1999 — as a business reporter, economics and politics columnist, magazine staff writer, founding editor of The Upshot section and Washington bureau chief. I went into journalism because I've always been fascinated by the news, and I particularly appreciate any story that cuts through the jargon and complexity to help me really understand something. As a writer, I try to provide that clarity in everything I do. |
I want to say a word of thanks to Chris Stanford, who's been writing the Morning Briefing so well for the past three years. Chris is moving on to a new job, editing breaking news from London. I feel lucky to be following in his footsteps. |
As you read the new version of the newsletter, we want to know what you think. You can reach us at themorning@nytimes.com. |
I'll see you in your inbox on Monday. |
